Friends of the forest. Here is a new program created just for you!

10.02.2022

Estonian University of Life Sciences has started admission for international students and the newest program is Planning and Analysis in Multifunctional Forestry. This master level study programme combines forest ecology and conservation fields with forest assessment, statistics and planning.

Forestry is a very important economic sector, the development of which directly affects the national economy and the well-being of people in many countries. There is a growing need for forest management professionals around the world. The need for analysts in the forestry sector, who can handle large databases, are able to analyse and model data in order to design different future scenarios, has also expanded.

Forestry is one of the curricula with a long tradition at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, where teaching and research are also at a very high international level. Forestry is precisely the field in which the Estonian University of Life Sciences is one of the 100 best universities in the world.

Another interesting fact: the candidate for the European Tree of the Year - the 380-year-old King's Pine - grows in the forest of the Estonian University of Life Sciences. This is the Järvselja study and testing district, where this dignified tree grows in the first forest protection area in Estonia, established 100 years ago. Järvselja is a crucial place for forest researchers and students, where numerous research and internships are carried out. Järvselja forests are one of the most thoroughly researched forests in the world. You are welcome to participate in the Tree of the Year poll.

This year, the Estonian University of Life Sciences will host foreign students in five international study programmes. Besides Forestry programme you can choose between Agri-Food Business Management, Landscape Architecture, Veterinary Medicine and Environmental Governance and Adaptation to Climate Change programmes.

The master level study programme Environmental Governance and Adaptation to Climate Change (EGACC) launched last year, proved to be very popular within the candidates.

The programme includes close cooperation with the University of Tartu. Unique joint diploma from two outstanding universities will be given to the first graduates upon successful graduation next year. EGACC is an international programme designed to teach how to resolve social, environmental, and economic challenges the world is facing today. It covers a very broad field of subjects from policies and legislation to information technology and science in the light of various challenges caused by the climatic change.

Master level programme Agri-Food Business Management began admitting students in 2019. The joint study programme was created by three Baltic universities and the studies are also carried out in three different countries - in Estonian University of Life Sciences, in Lithuania at the Agriculture Academy of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and in Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU).

Last summer first 12 students graduated. The programme renders integrated theoretical knowledge and practical skills for understanding the agricultural and food market and managing agricultural and food industry businesses. Studying agri-food business management will give students the opportunity to experience the cultural and business diversity of the three Baltic States.

Estonian University of Life Sciences - Landscape Architecture
