University of Oxford Training Session on Modern Information Society

This three-day training session is organized and delivered by Oxford University faculty. It will discuss in detail the challenges and opportunities of the modern information society. Lecture topics include the following:

  • Code as a Weapon: Worms, Viruses, and Stuxnet
  • International Security and Conflict in the Cyber Domain
  • Rules of War in Cyberspace
  • Cyber security and the Age of Privateering: A Historical Analogy
  • Origins and Development of the Estonian State Information Society
  • Principles and Functions of the Estonian State Information System
  • The Future of the e-State: Digital Embassies and e-Residency (tbc)

Garage48 Trafficking in Persons hackathon

This September Garage48 in collaboration with US Embassy will organise a first of its kind regional hackathon focused on matching NGOs and government officials with Estonian technologists to develop innovative solutions to tackle the challenge of Trafficking in Persons.

You are welcome if you have world changing idea or you are interested in this topic and want to solve problems with IT applications.
Theme: All ideas connected to human trafficking (web and mobile projects).

Estonian e-residency services to have a codefest in Vormsi

The hackathon is organised in co-operation with the international hackathon organisation foundation Garage48, Enterprise Estonia, the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, and the Information System Authority. The main event takes place on 11-13 September on Vormsi island.
