Skype and IT Academy Master’s Scholarship 2014

The purpose of Skype and IT Academy Master’s Scholarship (Scholarship) is to support the studies of excellent master`s students of Cyber Security or Computer Systems and Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology or Software Engineering or Informatics at University of Tartu. The Scholarship will help to support the studies and motivation of excellent master`s students of Computer Science and Information Technology and to increase the international recognition of Estonian ICT education. In the academic year 2014/2015, the total amount of the Scholarship is €100 000 and 15 scholarships will be awarded. The amount of one scholarship is €6500.

The purpose of the Scholarship is to cover the expenses of the upcoming academic year. Scholarship period is the academic year 2014/2015, all together 10 months. Application is open to all students who have been accepted to corresponding master's programs. Applicant must be a full-time student with a weighted GPA of at least 3.5 (incl.). For first year students, the weighted GPA from previous specialized studies is taken into account. Scholarship cannot be received simultaneously with other scholarships, excl. national study allowance. Please send your application here.

Please attach the following additional documents in English:

  • Motivation letter and description of planned master's dissertation or area of interest (up to 1000 characters);
  • Curriculum Vitae of the applicant;
  • Recommendation letter from a person chosen at discretion of the applicant;
  • Study record or academic certification of the entire study period from the previous (for first year students) or current (for second year students) institution of higher education.

The selection of scholarship recipients takes place in two rounds. At the first round, the representatives from Skype select among the received applications the applicants (taking into account the motivation, previous education, professional activity, and future vision on self-development) who will be asked to continue in the second round of interviews. Scholarship Board will organize interviews with up to 20 best applicants.

Application Deadline is September 16, 2014. Applicants who continue in the interview round shall be selected during 6 workdays. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by October 1, 2014.

Scholarship will be paid out in two installments: in October after confirmation and in February with a requisition that the scholarship receiver still continues studying in full-time basis and has a weighted GPA of at least 3.5.
